Chris Brannan – Curriculum Vitae

I moved with my family to the Southern Humboldt area in 1963-1964. I was three years old at the time. After living for a couple of years in Redway, my family bought a home in Miranda along the Avenue of the Giants. My father was the Redway Elementary School Principal for many years, and my mother taught kindergarten in the same school for approximately 34 years. I attended the local schools and graduated from South Fork High School in 1979. I was accepted into California State University, Chico and obtained a double major in Political Science; Pre-law and International Relations. I graduated in 1984 Cum Laude. A week or two after finishing college, I flew over to Europe and toured extensively.

Upon returning home, I obtained my real estate license and began working for Madrone Realty in the Summer of 1985. I am now entering my twenty sixth year as a Real Estate Broker in Southern Humboldt County. In October of 2006, I left Madrone Realty and opened Brannan Realty in Garberville. Over the years I have invested significantly in real estate specializing in commercial property.

I am active in my community. I have served for several years on the local board of the Chamber of Commerce. I joined Rotary in 1991 and later became president of the Garberville Club in 1995-96. My main focus became Rotary‚Äôs International Youth Exchange Program. I was asked in 1997 to be on the District Committee for the District 5130 Youth Exchange Program. This Rotary District stretches from Crescent City down to Petaluma and includes Napa Valley. In 1999 I accepted the Chair of the committee and took over responsibility for the program in July 2000 until July of 2006, personally supervising over 300 students during their exchange year. In 2006, I was asked to serve as a Rotary Assistant Governor for the year 2007-2008 and again in 2008 for the year 2008-2009. In 2009-2010, I was the Chief Assistant Governor for Governor Kirk Brown. In 2008 I was chosen as Co-Rotarian of the Year for District 5130. I was honored to serve as president of the Fortuna Rotary Club from 2011 to 2012, and currently serve on the board of the Ferndale Repertory Theatre as well, the longest running live theatre on California’s north coast.

I fulfilled a life-long dream in 2004 by becoming a licensed private pilot and I purchased my own plane which is based at Garberville International Airport.

I love living and working in the Southern Humboldt area. I grew up here and strive each week to help make this spectacular area a better place in which to live.
